Overview

CAN2109 is a novel, long-acting, tumor-anchoring immunogenic cell death (ICD) inducer developed by Canwell Biotech. Designed for intratumoral administration, the agent is engineered to be retained within the tumor microenvironment, thereby maximizing local immune stimulation while minimizing systemic exposure and toxicity. CAN2109 promotes the release of damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) and proinflammatory cytokines, leading to the activation of dendritic cells and the recruitment of T cells. In Phase 1 clinical trials, CAN2109 has demonstrated manageable safety and preliminary anti-tumor activity in patients with advanced solid tumors, including HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer. Notably, the drug has shown the ability to induce abscopal effects, resulting in the regression of non-injected distant metastases in bones, lungs, and lymph nodes.
