Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy that pairs canagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, with phentermine, a sympathomimetic amine anorectic. Canagliflozin works by inhibiting glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, leading to increased urinary glucose excretion and caloric loss. Phentermine acts by stimulating satiety centers in the brain through increased levels of norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin. The combination produced meaningful weight loss in clinical trials with overweight or obese individuals without type 2 diabetes.
