Overview
CanChew Rx is a pharmaceutical-grade, controlled-release chewing gum formulation containing highly purified cannabidiol (CBD) intended for systemic delivery via the buccal mucosa. Developed by AXIM Biotechnologies as part of its cannabinoid gum platform, the product uses 99.9% pure CBD crystals incorporated into a specialized multi-layer gum base to enable controlled oral absorption while bypassing first-pass gastrointestinal metabolism and minimizing psychoactive effects, as it does not include tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CanChew Rx has been explored as a functional formulation for conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and related gastrointestinal disorders, leveraging the anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and immunomodulatory pharmacology of CBD acting on the endocannabinoid system, including cannabinoid receptors and other non-cannabinoid targets.
