Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**candesartan + rosuvastatin** is a fixed-dose oral combination drug used for the concurrent treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol). Candesartan is a selective angiotensin II type 1 receptor antagonist that blocks the action of angiotensin II, thereby reducing blood vessel constriction and lowering blood pressure. Rosuvastatin is a 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitor (statin) which lowers cholesterol by inhibiting the enzyme involved in cholesterol biosynthesis, reducing LDL cholesterol and total cholesterol levels. The combination improves medication adherence and provides synergistic cardiovascular protection by addressing two major risk factors for cardiovascular disease: elevated blood pressure and dyslipidemia[1][2][6].
