Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Candesartan + rosuvastatin + ezetimibe is a fixed-dose combination therapy under investigation for the management of patients with both hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Candesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that lowers blood pressure by inhibiting the effects of angiotensin II on its receptor, leading to vasodilation. Rosuvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that reduces cholesterol synthesis in the liver, thereby lowering LDL cholesterol and overall cardiovascular risk. Ezetimibe inhibits intestinal absorption of cholesterol by blocking the Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) transporter in the small intestine, providing additional LDL-lowering effects complementary to statins. The combination aims to improve patient compliance and reduce cardiovascular disease risk by addressing both elevated blood pressure and dyslipidemia simultaneously[3][6][2].
