Overview

Candin (Candida albicans skin test antigen) is a biological product derived from the culture filtrate and cells of *Candida albicans*, primarily indicated as a recall antigen for detecting cell-mediated hypersensitivity through intradermal testing. It is used to evaluate the cellular immune response in patients suspected of having reduced cellular hypersensitivity (anergy). Additionally, the product is being developed as an intralesional immunotherapy for the treatment of common warts (Verruca vulgaris). By injecting the antigen directly into a wart, it induces a localized delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) response, which recruits T-cells and other immune effectors to the site, facilitating the clearance of the underlying human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Nielsen BioSciences is the lead developer, with Maruho partnering for commercialization in Japan and other Asian territories.
