Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The term "Candidate-2" is a generic identifier used in various research and development contexts to refer to different drug candidates. It does not denote a single, specific pharmaceutical drug. Examples found in scientific literature include 2H4MBBH (an antitumor drug candidate), 2-thiouridine (a broad-spectrum antiviral candidate), TUSC2 (a tumor suppressor gene/protein investigated for cancer gene therapy), 2'-benzoyloxycinnamaldehyde (an antitumour drug candidate), nOPV2 candidate 2 (a poliovirus vaccine candidate), 2-Phosphono-Benzoic-Acid (a COVID-19 antiviral candidate), and MESDC2 (a human recombinant protein). Due to this non-specific usage, a singular mechanism of action, developer, or primary indication cannot be attributed to "Candidate-2".
