Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Candiplus (also referred to as Prof-001) is a novel therapeutic developed for the treatment of frequently recurring vaginal fungal infections, particularly chronic recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis. It is based on a new therapeutic strategy designed to achieve a sustainable cure and overcome biofilm resistance mechanisms that contribute to relapse and treatment failure. Clinical studies, including phase IIa and phase IIb/III trials conducted in Europe, have demonstrated significantly improved primary cure rates and reduced relapse rates compared to standard therapies. The drug provides rapid pain relief within 12–24 hours and shows evidence of reducing recurrence by up to 50% during follow-up periods[8]. The precise mechanism of action has not been fully disclosed but is described as novel in overcoming biofilm resistance.
