Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Canerpaturev (also known as C-REV or HF10) is an oncolytic viral immunotherapy developed by Takara Bio. It is a replication-competent, attenuated, naturally occurring spontaneous mutant of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). The virus is designed to selectively replicate within and lyse tumor cells while simultaneously stimulating a systemic anti-tumor immune response by releasing tumor-associated antigens. It is primarily administered via intratumoral injection into accessible lesions. In melanoma, it has been evaluated in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors such as ipilimumab. Takara Bio submitted a Marketing Authorization Application in Japan for unresectable or metastatic melanoma in 2019, and the drug has been licensed to Otsuka Pharmaceutical for development in Japan and Dong-A ST for Korea.
