CanGarooRM is a next-generation drug-eluting biologic envelope designed to stabilize and protect cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) such as pacemakers and neurostimulators. The envelope is composed of a natural extracellular matrix derived from porcine small intestine submucosa, which promotes regenerative healing by encouraging host cell migration and vascularized tissue formation. Uniquely, it incorporates a slow-release formulation of the antibiotics rifampin and minocycline within dissolvable polymer rings to reduce bacterial colonization on the device surface. This combination aims to lower infection risk associated with CIED implantation while supporting healthy tissue integration around the device[1][4][8]. Developed for use in cardiac rhythm management procedures, it is positioned as the first biologic (non-synthetic) antibiotic-eluting envelope in its market segment.
