Overview
Cangfu Daotan Tang is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula primarily used to treat gynecological disorders associated with phlegm-dampness syndrome, most notably Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and related infertility. It is frequently studied in obese patients with PCOS to improve insulin resistance, hormonal balance, and endometrial receptivity. The formula typically consists of several herbs, including Rhizoma Cyperi (Xiangfu) and Rhizoma Atractylodis (Cangzhu), which give it its name. Research suggests it acts through multiple pathways, including the regulation of immune microenvironments via JUN and AKT targets, the NEK7-NLRP3 inflammatory pathway, and the HSP70/NF-κB/Caspase3 signaling cascade. It is often used as an adjuvant to assisted reproductive technologies like in vitro fertilization (IVF).
