The Canine Multi-Cancer Preventative Vaccine is a prophylactic biological vaccine developed by Calviri, Inc. to prevent the development of multiple common types of cancer in dogs. The vaccine is composed of 31 shared neoantigens, specifically RNA Error-Derived Neoantigens (REDNs) or frameshift peptides, which result from errors during tumor RNA processing. These neoantigens are conserved across various canine malignancies, including hemangiosarcoma, osteosarcoma, lymphoma, and mast cell tumors. By immunizing healthy dogs against these shared tumor-specific antigens, the vaccine primes the immune system to recognize and eliminate nascent cancer cells before they form detectable tumors. The vaccine was evaluated in the Vaccine Against Canine Cancer Study (VACCS), a five-year, multi-center, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial involving over 800 dogs, which demonstrated positive safety and efficacy results in reducing malignant tumor incidence.
