Overview

Cannabichromic acid is a naturally occurring **small-molecule phytocannabinoid** found in *Cannabis sativa* as a minor cannabinoid and the acidic biosynthetic precursor of cannabichromene. It is formed from cannabigerolic acid by CBCA synthase and is currently best characterized as an early-stage research compound rather than a clinically developed therapeutic. Preclinical studies suggest anticonvulsant activity, including seizure reduction in animal models of Dravet syndrome and zebrafish seizure assays, and antibacterial activity against methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus*. Its precise therapeutic mechanism of action has not been definitively established, and there is no clear evidence of branded pharmaceutical development, regulatory approval, or an identified commercial drug sponsor specifically advancing cannabichromic acid as a standalone medicine.
