Overview
Cannabics is a standardized medical cannabis extract in capsule form developed by Cannabics Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of cancer-related cachexia and anorexia syndrome (CACS). The formulation contains a specific ratio of cannabinoids, primarily delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). THC acts as a partial agonist at the Cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1), which is known to stimulate appetite and modulate energy metabolism, while CBD provides complementary effects and may mitigate some of the psychoactive side effects of THC. The drug was evaluated in a Phase 2 pilot study to assess its ability to improve appetite and prevent weight loss in advanced cancer patients.
