Overview

A proprietary oral combination of cannabidiol (CBD) and the synthetic cannabinoid dexanabinol (HU-211) developed for the treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and concussion. The therapy was initially developed through a collaboration between Scythian Biosciences and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The mechanism of action involves CBD-mediated activation of receptors that trigger cellular repair and dexanabinol-mediated NMDA receptor antagonism to prevent calcium accumulation and neuroinflammation. While pre-clinical rodent studies showed improved cognitive function post-injury, development stalled after Scythian Biosciences (rebranded as SOL Global Investments) pivoted away from biotechnology and planned to spin off the program into Impact Biosciences.
