Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Avecho's topical cannabidiol (CBD) gel is a small molecule formulation that utilizes the company's proprietary TPM® (Tocopheryl Phosphate Mixture) drug delivery technology. TPM® is a patented delivery system derived from Vitamin E (tocopherol) that enhances the dermal and transdermal absorption of lipophilic molecules like cannabinoids. This formulation is designed to provide localized relief for pain and inflammation without the systemic side effects or psychoactivity associated with other cannabinoids. A Phase II proof-of-concept clinical trial conducted in collaboration with the Lambert Initiative for Cannabinoid Therapeutics demonstrated that the gel significantly improved pain scores, grip strength, and joint function in patients with osteoarthritis of the hand. The mechanism of action involves the modulation of cannabinoid receptors and other sensory targets in the skin and underlying tissues.
