Overview
BioNanoSim's oral cannabidiol (Trojan) is a nano-encapsulated formulation of the phytocannabinoid cannabidiol (CBD). Developed using a proprietary lipid nanoparticle (nano-liposphere) delivery system, the drug is designed to overcome the significant pharmacokinetic challenges associated with CBD, specifically its low aqueous solubility and poor oral bioavailability (approximately 6%). By protecting the molecule from extensive first-pass metabolism and enhancing absorption, this formulation aims to provide more consistent systemic delivery for the treatment of various conditions. CBD is a non-psychotropic compound that modulates the endocannabinoid system and interacts with multiple non-cannabinoid receptors, exhibiting anti-convulsive, anti-inflammatory, and anxiolytic properties.
