Overview
TOTEC Pharma is developing an Rx-strength topical cream formulation of cannabidiol (CBD) specifically for the treatment of radiation dermatitis in cancer patients. The product utilizes a dual-technology delivery system consisting of nano-structured lipid carriers (NLCs) and a patented water-based micellar system designed to enhance the solubility and penetration of CBD through the stratum corneum. By targeting Cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2), the formulation aims to reduce inflammation, pain, and tissue damage caused by radiation therapy. The drug is currently in preclinical development, with in vivo studies demonstrating improvements in dermatitis scoring and redness.
