Overview

Cannabidiol + cannabigerol is a combination of two non-psychoactive cannabinoids derived from the Cannabis sativa plant. Cannabidiol (CBD) acts primarily as a negative allosteric modulator of the cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1), with additional activity at serotonin 5-HT1A receptors and transient receptor potential (TRP) channels. Cannabigerol (CBG) is considered a partial agonist at both CB1 and CB2 receptors, also modulating endocannabinoid signaling and acting on TRP channels, cyclooxygenase enzymes, alpha-2 adrenergic receptors, and serotonin 5-HT1A receptors. The combination has demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects in preclinical models, pain reduction in animal studies, synergistic or sub-additive effects depending on dosing conditions, as well as potential benefits for neuropathic pain, opioid withdrawal symptoms, anxiety disorders, neurodegenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. Both compounds lack psychotomimetic effects.
