Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Cannabidiol + hemp oil** is a combination containing **cannabidiol (CBD)**, a non-psychoactive phytocannabinoid found primarily in hemp, and **hemp oil**, typically referring to oil extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant, *Cannabis sativa*. This combination is commonly marketed and used as a dietary supplement. Cannabidiol interacts with multiple physiological targets in the endocannabinoid system, including cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2. It acts primarily as a negative allosteric modulator at the CB1 receptor, with additional effects on serotonin and other neural pathways. Hemp oil predominantly contains fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants, and may contain varying small amounts of cannabinoids depending on the manufacturing process. The combination is promoted for wellness purposes, such as relief from pain, anxiety, inflammation, and other indications, but only prescription cannabidiol (as Epidiolex) is FDA-approved for specific seizure disorders.
