Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This topical 5% cannabidiol (CBD) cream is an investigational therapeutic developed by Khon Kaen University for the treatment of chronic pruritic skin conditions. Cannabidiol is a non-psychoactive phytocannabinoid that functions as a neuromodulator, exhibiting anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and antinociceptive properties. The formulation is currently being evaluated in a Phase 2 randomized clinical trial (NCT06994520) to assess its efficacy and safety compared to triamcinolone 0.1% cream in patients suffering from atopic dermatitis, nummular eczema, lichen simplex chronicus, and prurigo nodularis. The treatment aims to alleviate persistent itching and improve quality of life in patients with conditions that have failed to respond adequately to standard therapies.
