Overview
Cannabidiol-enriched cannabis oil is a pharmaceutical-grade phytocannabinoid formulation developed by Panaxia Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of intractable pediatric epilepsy. The formulation typically consists of a 20:1 ratio of cannabidiol (CBD) to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) dissolved in olive oil. It acts on the endocannabinoid system by modulating cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2, as well as other non-cannabinoid targets such as GPR55 and TRPV1, to reduce neuronal hyperexcitability. Produced under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) protocols, it is administered as an oral or sublingual oil and has demonstrated efficacy in clinical studies for treatment-resistant epilepsy in children and adolescents.
