A **cannabinoid-cox-2 conjugate** is a novel class of chemical entities in which a cannabinoid molecule is covalently linked to a cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor moiety. These **conjugates** are designed to combine the anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of COX-2 inhibition with the pharmacological effects of cannabinoids. The COX-2 inhibitor component may consist of selective COX-2 inhibitors such as celecoxib, etoricoxib, or diclofenac. The intent of the conjugation is to create a bifunctional therapeutic agent with potential enhanced efficacy and reduced side effects for conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Currently, the lead indications are joint diseases, particularly those involving inflammation and degeneration. Enveric Biosciences, through its subsidiary Akos Biosciences, has developed a portfolio of these compounds and licensed them to Restoration Biologics for further pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical development[4][5][6][8].
