Overview

Cannabinol (CBN) is a mildly psychoactive phytocannabinoid found in the Cannabis sativa plant. It was the first cannabinoid to be isolated from cannabis and was discovered in 1896. CBN acts as a low-affinity partial agonist at both CB1 and CB2 receptors of the endocannabinoid system, but with much lower potency than delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). This means that higher doses are required to produce noticeable effects, which may include mild sedation. Research on CBN is limited; early studies suggest it may affect the immune system and reduce pain, with interest in its use for sleep disorders, pain management, and appetite stimulation[1][3].
