Research suggests that CFE can modulate global levels of 5-methylcytosine (m5C) and 8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-oxo-dG), thereby inducing oxidative stress and epigenetic modifications that inhibit tumor progression. It is often investigated as a monotherapy or in combination with standard chemotherapeutic agents like temozolomide to enhance therapeutic efficacy against malignant gliomas.
