Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cannabis FM2 oil is a standardized botanical extract derived from the FM2 cannabis variety, produced by the Italian Military Chemical Pharmaceutical Institute (ICFM). It contains a balanced ratio of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). The oil is primarily investigated for the management of chronic pain, specifically aromatase inhibitor-induced resistant pain in breast cancer patients. Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of the endocannabinoid system through agonism of cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2, which are involved in pain signaling and inflammatory pathways. It is currently being evaluated in Phase III clinical trials in Italy as part of the 'Tuscany project' led by Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Careggi.
