Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cannabis liquid plant extract is a standardized medical cannabis formulation containing equal concentrations (10 mg/ml) of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). This 1:1 ratio is designed to provide therapeutic relief while utilizing CBD to mitigate the psychoactive effects typically associated with THC. The extract is primarily investigated for the management of chronic pain conditions, such as fibromyalgia syndrome, where it aims to modulate the endocannabinoid system to reduce pain severity, improve sleep quality, and decrease joint stiffness. THC acts as a partial agonist at cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2), while CBD acts as a negative allosteric modulator of these receptors and interacts with various other targets including TRPV1 and serotonin receptors.
