Overview

Cannabis oil-University of British Columbia refers to research-grade cannabis oil formulations developed for use in the CAPU RISE (Cannabis and Polysubstance Use: Response Inhibition and Stress Exposure) clinical trial. Conducted by the Behavioral Reward Affect + Impulsivity Neuroscience (B.R.A.I.N.) Lab at the University of British Columbia, the study utilizes two distinct formulations: one with a high ratio of cannabidiol (CBD) to delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and another with a high ratio of THC to CBD. These formulations are being evaluated in a Phase I, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial to understand the neurological effects of different cannabinoid ratios on stress reactivity and response inhibition in healthy adult polysubstance users. The active ingredients, THC and CBD, are small molecule cannabinoids that primarily target the endocannabinoid system via CB1 and CB2 receptors to modulate cognitive and physiological stress responses.
