Cannabis sativa dichloromethane extract is a complex plant-derived mixture obtained using dichloromethane as a solvent. It is primarily investigated for its anti-proliferative and anti-metastatic properties in oncology, particularly against breast cancer. The extract contains a variety of phytochemicals, including terpenoids, steroids, and cannabinoids such as cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA). Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of oxidative stress by decreasing antioxidant enzymes like Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) and Glutathione (GSH), which leads to the activation of apoptotic pathways via p53 and caspases 8 and 9.
