Cannabis sativa leaf extract is a botanical preparation derived from the leaves of the Cannabis sativa plant. A methanolic extract from the 'Sofia' variety of hemp has been shown to contain various polyphenolic compounds, including cannflavins A and B, chlorogenic acid, p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid, and isochlorogenic acid. In preclinical studies, this extract has demonstrated antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and selective cytotoxic activities. It showed significant cytotoxicity against human colon cancer cell lines (HT29, HCT116, DLD-1) while being less harmful to normal colon epithelial cells. These properties suggest its potential as a future agent for chemoprevention.
