Overview

Cannflavin B is a **prenylated flavone small molecule natural product** isolated from *Cannabis sativa* that is being explored as an anti-inflammatory therapeutic rather than as a cannabinoid drug. Preclinical literature describes cannflavin B as an inhibitor of **microsomal prostaglandin E synthase-1** and **5-lipoxygenase**, reducing prostaglandin E2 production and suppressing inflammatory eicosanoid signaling; it has also been reported to inhibit **TrkB-BDNF** signaling in experimental systems. The compound has been highlighted as a potential non-cannabinoid analgesic and anti-inflammatory lead for acute and chronic pain and as a possible alternative to NSAIDs or opioids, but available evidence indicates it remains at an early preclinical stage with no identified marketed brand name. Anahit International has publicly described licensed University of Guelph intellectual property covering biosynthesis of cannflavins including cannflavin B for therapeutic development.
