Overview

Canoderm is a topical moisturizing cream containing 5% urea, primarily indicated for the treatment of dry skin (xerosis) and as maintenance therapy to prevent the recurrence of atopic dermatitis (eczema). As a humectant, urea increases the water-binding capacity of the stratum corneum and strengthens the skin's natural barrier function, thereby reducing sensitivity to external irritants such as sodium lauryl sulphate. Originally developed and marketed within the Nordic region, Canoderm was a key prescription product in **Perrigo's** Consumer Self-Care International segment until its divestiture in 2019-2020 as part of the company's strategic shift toward a consumer-focused portfolio. Clinical research has also explored its efficacy in mitigating acute radiation dermatitis in breast cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy.
