Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Cantabell** is an oral fixed-dose antihypertensive combination marketed by Chong Kun Dang that contains candesartan cilexetil and amlodipine. Candesartan cilexetil is a prodrug of candesartan, a selective angiotensin II type 1 receptor antagonist, while amlodipine is a dihydropyridine L-type calcium-channel blocker. The complementary mechanisms reduce vascular tone and lower blood pressure. Cantabell is indicated for essential hypertension inadequately controlled with candesartan cilexetil or amlodipine monotherapy. A completed Phase 4 trial evaluated Cantabell against candesartan cilexetil + hydrochlorothiazide in patients with hypertension inadequately controlled by candesartan monotherapy.
