CAP-1 is a synthetic peptide derived from the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), also known as CEA peptide-1. It is used experimentally to make vaccines that may help stimulate the body's immune system to recognize and kill cancer cells expressing CEA. The primary mechanism involves acting as a tumor-associated antigen to elicit an anti-tumor immune response in cancer immunotherapy settings[1]. CAP-1 has also been studied for its ability to inhibit HIV-1 infectivity in vitro, though it does not interfere with viral entry or early replication steps[4]. It is classified as a small molecule and belongs chemically to the class of n-phenylureas[2].
