Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**CAP-CMV-001** is a cytomegalovirus (CMV) vaccine candidate developed using a dense body-based platform derived from CEVEC Pharmaceuticals' technology. It aims to protect against human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection, particularly in high-risk populations such as transplant recipients or pregnant women. The vaccine leverages non-infectious dense bodies—viral particles lacking DNA capsids—to elicit strong humoral and cellular immune responses targeting CMV glycoproteins like gB and pentameric complex, without risk of replication-competent virus. Developed by CAP-CMV, a spin-out of CEVEC Pharmaceuticals, it represents an innovative approach to address the unmet need for a prophylactic CMV vaccine.[12]
