This regimen is a combination chemotherapy protocol consisting of three drugs: capecitabine (a prodrug of 5-fluorouracil), oxaliplatin (a platinum-based chemotherapeutic), and bevacizumab (a monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor A). Capecitabine inhibits DNA synthesis by interfering with thymidylate synthase after conversion to 5-FU in the body. Oxaliplatin forms DNA crosslinks, inhibiting DNA replication and transcription. Bevacizumab binds to VEGF-A, preventing angiogenesis required for tumor growth. This combination is primarily used as first-line or second-line therapy for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) and as neoadjuvant therapy for colon cancer[1][2][3][6]. The regimen has demonstrated improved progression-free survival, objective response rates, and disease control rates compared to chemotherapy alone[2][6].
