Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Capecitabine + celecoxib is a combination therapy that pairs capecitabine, a nucleoside metabolic inhibitor, with celecoxib, a COX-2 inhibitor. This combination has demonstrated synergistic antitumoral effects in various cancer models, particularly in colorectal cancer. Additionally, celecoxib has been shown to prevent or reduce the severity of hand-foot syndrome, a common adverse effect of capecitabine. Pharmacokinetic studies have revealed that coadministration of capecitabine increases exposure to celecoxib, with the interaction persisting for at least 7 days after capecitabine discontinuation.
