Capecitabine + metronidazole is not a single marketed combination drug but refers to the concurrent use of two distinct medications. Capecitabine is an oral antimetabolite chemotherapy agent used primarily for the treatment of various cancers, including colorectal, breast, gastric/esophageal/gastroesophageal junction (GEJ), and pancreatic cancer. Metronidazole is an antibiotic used to treat infections caused by anaerobic bacteria and certain protozoa[5][6]. When used together, there is a moderate drug interaction; metronidazole can increase the serum concentration of active metabolites of capecitabine (specifically 5-FU), potentially increasing toxicity risk[2][4].
