Overview
This combination therapy regimen consists of the CAPOX chemotherapy backbone (capecitabine and oxaliplatin) integrated with the anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody camrelizumab and the anti-EGFR monoclonal antibody cetuximab. Developed and evaluated by Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, this regimen is specifically investigated for the treatment of initially unresectable metastatic rectal cancer. The therapeutic strategy involves short-course radiotherapy followed by this four-drug combination to maximize local and systemic tumor control by leveraging cytotoxic chemotherapy, immune checkpoint inhibition, and targeted EGFR blockade in patients with KRAS/NRAS/BRAF wild-type disease.
