Capecitabine + sorafenib is an oral combination therapy used in oncology. Capecitabine is a prodrug of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), an antimetabolite that interferes with DNA synthesis and disrupts protein synthesis by inhibiting thymidylate synthase, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing tumor cells. Sorafenib is a multikinase inhibitor that targets several kinases involved in tumor cell proliferation and angiogenesis, including RAF kinase (C-Raf and B-Raf), vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR-1/2/3), platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta (PDGFR-β), KIT, FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT-3), and RET. The combination has been investigated for use in metastatic colorectal cancer and advanced hepatocellular carcinoma among other solid tumors[1][2][4][6].
