Overview

A combination therapy consisting of capecitabine, an antimetabolite chemotherapy agent, and tucidinostat, a selective histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor. Tucidinostat selectively targets class I HDAC enzymes (HDAC-1, -2, and -3) and class IIb HDAC-10, modifying epigenetic mechanisms by promoting histone acetylation which leads to chromatin relaxation and transcriptional activation. This combination is being investigated for its potential synergistic effects in treating various types of breast cancer, including hormone receptor-positive/HER2-negative breast cancer and triple-negative breast cancer. The combination is often administered with capecitabine in a metronomic (low-dose, continuous) schedule.
