Overview

Capra hircus hair is an allergenic extract derived from the hair of the domestic goat (*Capra hircus*). It is primarily used as a diagnostic tool in allergy testing, such as skin prick or intradermal tests, to identify individuals with hypersensitivity to goat-derived allergens. Approved by the FDA in 1974 under BLA 102223, it is classified as a biologic product. The extract contains various proteins found in goat hair and dander that can trigger IgE-mediated allergic reactions in sensitized individuals. It is also found as a component in some homeopathic formulations for animal dander allergies, where it may be referred to as 'Mohair'.
