Overview
Capromab pendetide is a murine IgG1 monoclonal antibody (clone 7E11-C5.3) conjugated to the chelator pendetide, which allows radiolabeling with indium-111 for diagnostic imaging. The antibody specifically binds to a cytoplasmic epitope of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA, also known as glutamate carboxypeptidase II), which is expressed on both normal and malignant prostatic epithelial cells. When labeled with indium-111, capromab pendetide enables gamma camera imaging of PSMA-expressing tissues and is used as a radioimmunoscintigraphic agent to evaluate the extent of prostate cancer in patients at high risk for pelvic lymph node metastases or in postprostatectomy patients with rising PSA and negative/equivocal standard metastatic evaluation[1][2][3][4][5][6].
