Overview
Capsipod is a topical podological formulation developed by Epitech for the management of foot skin and nail disorders. It utilizes ALIAmide (Autacoid Local Inflammation Antagonism) technology, featuring the active ingredients adelmidrol and trans-traumatic acid. Adelmidrol, a synthetic analogue of the endogenous fatty acid amide palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), acts by modulating mast cell degranulation and downregulating dermo-epidermal hyper-reactivity, primarily through the activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-alpha). Trans-traumatic acid is included to support the restoration of the skin barrier and promote tissue repair. Capsipod is marketed as a medical device in the European Union for the treatment of localized skin reactivity, inflammation, and pain associated with conditions such as podological dermatitis and nail dystrophies.
