Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CAR-507 is an investigational oral liquid formulation of the calcium channel blocker amlodipine, developed by Carmel Biosciences using its proprietary Bio-Liquid technology. Currently in the Pre-IND stage of development, CAR-507 is designed to provide a stable, ready-to-use liquid alternative to traditional amlodipine tablets. This formulation is primarily intended for patients with hypertension or angina who have difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), such as the elderly or post-stroke patients, and aims to ensure consistent dosing and improved patient compliance. The development follows the FDA 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway, which allows for the approval of new formulations of previously approved drugs.
