Overview

CAR-IMAN is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy targeting the tumor-associated glycoform of Mucin 1 (MUC1), specifically the Tn-MUC1 epitope. Developed by Beijing Iman Biotechnology, this therapeutic candidate is designed for the treatment of MUC1-positive advanced solid tumors, including breast, pancreatic, and ovarian cancers. MUC1 is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is frequently overexpressed and aberrantly glycosylated in various malignancies, promoting tumor growth and metastasis. CAR-IMAN involves the genetic modification of a patient's T cells to express a CAR that specifically recognizes Tn-MUC1, leading to targeted cytotoxicity and the release of cytokines upon binding to tumor cells. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to determine its safety profile and preliminary anti-tumor activity.
