Overview

CAR-MOG Tconvs are conventional T cells (Tconvs) engineered to express a second-generation chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) specific for myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG). The CAR construct is derived from the 8.18 C5 monoclonal antibody. Developed at the University of Montreal, these cells are primarily utilized in research as a cytotoxic control to evaluate the efficacy and specificity of CAR-MOG regulatory T cells (Tregs) in models of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). While CAR-MOG Tregs are intended to suppress neuroinflammation, CAR-MOG Tconvs exhibit potent cytotoxic activity against MOG-expressing cells, demonstrating the functional binding of the CAR to its target.
