Overview

CAR-MOG Tregs are an experimental cell therapy consisting of regulatory T cells (Tregs) engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) specific for myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG). Developed as a potential treatment for multiple sclerosis (MS), these cells are designed to localize to the central nervous system where MOG is expressed. Upon engagement with MOG, the CAR-Tregs activate and exert localized immunosuppression through the secretion of anti-inflammatory cytokines like IL-10 and TGF-beta, thereby reducing neuroinflammation without the systemic side effects of traditional immunosuppressants. The CAR construct is typically derived from the 8.18 C5 monoclonal antibody clone.
