Overview

CAR-NK-CD19 cells are an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) engineered natural killer (NK) cell therapy developed by Beijing Boren Hospital. These cells are designed to target and eliminate CD19-positive B-cell malignancies, including acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). Unlike CAR-T cell therapies, CAR-NK cells utilize natural killer cells as the effector platform, which may offer advantages such as a lower risk of cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), as well as the potential for off-the-shelf use. The therapy involves the infusion of NK cells modified to express a CAR specific for the CD19 antigen, typically following a lymphodepletion regimen of fludarabine and cyclophosphamide.
