Overview

CAR-NK019 is an allogeneic, cord blood-derived chimeric antigen receptor natural killer (CAR-NK) cell therapy targeting the B-lymphocyte antigen CD19. Developed by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, this therapy involves the genetic modification of NK cells harvested from umbilical cord blood to express a CAR construct specific for CD19, an antigen widely expressed in B-cell malignancies. By utilizing NK cells, the therapy aims to provide an "off-the-shelf" treatment option that reduces the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and cytokine release syndrome (CRS), which are common complications associated with CAR-T cell therapies. CAR-NK019 is currently under clinical investigation for the treatment of refractory or relapsed B-cell malignancies, including B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL) and central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma.
